U14 Football: St Agnes / Eire Og vs O'Donnell's

07 May 2013

Result: St Agnes 2-9 O'Donnell's 3-1
This game was away to O'Donnell's on a nice summer evening.
O'Donnell's could only field 14 players. We let Connor Erskine go free which was used to great effect. I'm sure Connor felt that he ran a marathon that day.
We started the same team as the All county final with the exception of Adam in for Oisin at corner forward.
Jack, Owen D, Ronan, Ciaran, Daniel, Paddy M, Ewan, John, Owen P, Mark, Jarlath, Connor, Brendan, Paddy C, Adam. Subs Oisin and Donal.
In the first half we played uphill, but with a light breeze.
We opened our account with a ball to Brendan in the corner who setup Ewan for a point. the second score can the same way, this time Brendan setting up Paddy C for a goal.
Connor acted as a conduite for getting the ball into attack. Jarlath had a battle with their no5 and went on to give a man of the match performance.
We continued to dominate the first half, finishing on 2-5 to 1-0.
Our defence of Jack, Owen, Ronan Ciaran and Paddy M did a terrific job throughout. Wing half backs Ewan and Daniel provided an attacking platform.
The second half O'D's put up a fight scoring 2 goals and 1 point to our 4 points. That point could have been a goal, but for great defending from Jack and Ciaran.
John made a run from mid field beating a few players. He was looking for a goal, but was brought down and suffered a wrist injury. John had to come off, but we were fortunate that Owen P was able to come back on to solidify our mid field.
Brendan slotted over the resutant free kick giving him 3 converted kicks from 3 attempts. A newly discovered free taker. Adam scored a terrific point and nearly followed immediately with another. Donal had a great opportunity when he came on. Held up the ball well, but just blasted wide.
Towards the end of the game, Ciaran picked up an injury to his leg and also had to come off.
We wish both John and Ciaran a quick recovery.
