Match Report St Agnes V St Malachy's

St Agnes Minor team got their 2012 league campaign of to a promising start with a 3-14 to 2-5 victory over St Malachys.
 
The platform for this win was built on a solid performance from a half-back line of Ryan Reilly,Ronan Carroll and Conor Compston allied to some fine high catching from newly appointed captain Ronan McCann in midfield.
 
Four different scorers edged the young aggies into a 4 pt lead before Donal Rooney showing a fine physical presence at full forward notched 2pts.
 
St Mals replied with 2pts, one from a free before rampaging midfielder Conor Pelan with 2pts and a goal capping a great solo run left the Half Time score St Agnes 1-9 St Malachys 0-2.
 
A spirited start to the 2nd half from St Mals with a goal and 2pts rocked the home team narrowing the margin to 5pts.
 
Points from Matt Hill & Colin Mallon got the home team back on track. Further scores from half time sub Colm McGuigan & attacking half-back Conor Compston with 1-1 & 1-2 respectively with a 1-1 reply leaving the young aggies comfortable enough winners.
 
The evidence of a solid pre-season was there for all to see but much sterner tasks lie ahead.
