U 12's keep the show on the road with great win away to Lagmore Gales

11 June 2011
Our unbeaten run in this year's U12 League continued last night with a fantastic win over Lagmore Gales in Twinbrook.
Although the final score of 0-8 to 3-6 looked comfortable, it was a much closer game than the scoreboard would have you believe.
Naomh Og started well with John Mc Caffery and Gavin Donnelly getting on top at midfield.
Philip Kennedy did very well at full forward and Paddy Carroll took a good early point to settle things down. At the back as the half wore on we came under pressure and Daniel Hill made some telling interceptions, Paddy Mulgrew and Luke O' Donnell tackled well and used the ball to good effect while Fintan Toner and Owen Duffy were strong throughout.
We seemed to overplay the ball a little and did not give Oisin Mc Kenna or Mark Hamill much to chase after for long periods, but with further scores from Philip, John and Gavin, we kept the scoreboard ticking over.
At half time the score was 0-4 t0 1-4 in our favour and considering we had played into a strong breeze, this was a good return for the boys who had started in their new kit for the first time.
Several changes wer made at half time and the team did not miss a beat, Conor Boyle impressed at half back where Owen Pelan also did well before being moved to mid field late on.
Philip again did well in the full forward line before giving way for Ryan who was well supported by Euan Rush and Ronan Donnelly who replaced the hard working Jarlaith Devlin.
With the breeze at our backs Naomh Og pulled away and took some great scores, the forward play of Brendan Mohan and Alan Gordon strtched the Lagmore defence while Brian Lynn and Donad Mackin did well on thier introduction as did Matthew Fenning who tackled well through out and Conor Erskine who played further away from goal than he normally does, filling in at centre half back.
Jack Robinson's kicking from goal continues to be an important point for starting attacks and from the half back line to the half forward line we had the beating of Lagmore throughout.
Great work boys, and let's keep the same attitude for the game against St Galls on the 24th of June.
